Victory!

Feeling good today after getting up early and finishing a full session before work.

Up at 6.15, 25min run to work and 30min weights session.  Makes such a difference.

3 - Preoccupied

Some personal stuff going on (will reveal in time, oooo, the suspense), so not much posting, but sticking to the plan.

However, not stretching enough, already more niggles than I had in 7mnths of training for Ironman.  Crazy.  Time to get back to the foam roller and endless hours of stretching (yes, hours a week).

Check back next week.

Week 2 - Progress

All pointing upwards.  I've hit all the workouts this week including some extra time.  Though, I have to say, it all seems a chore.  Sitting on the bike, even 30 minutes, isn't easy.  But in the end, I'll love it.

Morning soreness is the best feeling in the world (it means PROGRESS!).signs of progress!  The "chore" feeling will disappear and shear enjoyment will return.

Week 1 - A Total Mess

Between work and the pub, I did nothing after day 1.  Week 2 can only get better, right?

Day 1, 2012

No, I'm not confused, I know we're still in 2011.  However, today was the first day of training for next year's events.  We'll cover training plan, events and goals for 2012 in a future post but want to get a few thoughts down.

I start out the new season with weights, easy 20min bike and easy 20min run.

Weights
I was lost with only a rough idea of how to start when lucky for me, I bumped into Lloyd, a rower and fellow gym-enthusiast, who happened to be doing a weight session.  His plan mirrored what I had in mind, so I joined his session:

4x through, circuit style (one to the next, to the next...)
- 6 cleans
- 20 sit-ups
- 10 bent over rows
- 7 dead lifts
- 15 push-ups
- 10 squat jumps

First time through, piece of cake.  Second time, ok.  Third, panting.  Fourth, wow, really!?!  Let's remember, this is day one, hope I don't wake up tomorrow with a muscle injury.  A bit long, 40mins, I'm looking for max 30mins, but a good start.

Bike & Run
Easy stuff, Zone 1 heart rate (another topic to cover in the near future).  Hopefully turning the legs over will minimize damage from weights.

Feels good to be back on a schedule.

WELCOME

To new friends and old, welcome to EverySecondCounts (ESC).

For those who missed my intro to blogging, you can catch up here.  The previous blog was started to share the ironman experience with friends and family, but no one mentioned blogs are addictive!  So here we go again, this time covering more than a single ironman race.

ESC?  Simple.  My goal time for the 2011 Ironman UK was 11.29.59.  I finished in 11.32.21 missing the target by 142 seconds, nearly one second per mile over the 140.6mi of the race.

Feels good to be back on the blog!
